The project idea originally came from Osama Khan who was working with King Fabrics to develop thier system but handed the datawarehouse part to Asad as he is quite proficient in this area.
Asad and Bilal went to Lahore in January and visited King Fabrics. they had a discussion with Kamran Anwar who showed them thier current system which is basically a reporting system in FoxPro. The company also uses excel sheets for analysis purposes.
What King Fabrics baiscally requires is a system that can conduct automated analysis and performance management in which targets can be set and the performance can be checked to see if the targets are being met or not. Performance measures, tracking and analysis is primarily required in the following areas:
Cash
Inventory
Purchases
Sales
Bank Balances
The way the project is going to be undertaken is by first moving the data from FoxPro and excel sheets into Data Warehouse layer in which the development of ETL will be the most complicated procedure.
Asad has been in contact with Mr Kamran Anwar continously over this project and called just today to discuss some important part. However, Mr. Kamran said he will get back to us on Monday.
